In a letter, a lawyer for Chick-fil-A said Muller-Moore's effort to expand the use of his "eat more kale" message "is likely to cause confusion of the public and dilutes the distinctiveness of Chick-fil-A's intellectual property and diminishes its value.

I like Chick Fil-A sandwiches. But crap like this really annoys me. Really CFA? You're that petty? You're going to lose that case if you sue him.

Michael Altschul, senior vice president and legal counsel for CTIA, the wireless industry association, said a study that it conducted more than a decade ago found no interference from mobile devices.

“The fact is, the radio frequencies that are assigned for aviation use are separate from commercial use,” Mr. Altschul said. “Plus, the wiring and instruments for aircraft are shielded to protect them from interference from commercial wireless devices.”

Mr. Dorr reluctantly agreed. “There have never been any reported accidents from these kinds of devices on planes,” he said.

The most dramatic impact was the plunge in use of the carpool lanes, which used to be free. That, and the future's going to get even pricier, in terms of today's ultra-cheap monthly streaming access fees, as studio catalogues and licensing costs increase. If you're a customer who's privately reveling in Netflix's subscription drop-off, I'd just say be mindful of the big picture.

n group 2, my roommate has a higher Klout score than Paul Graham? Really? By 5 points? Paul has 6x more followers, 2x total RTs, and 4x as many unique RTs, but he hasn’t linked his FB account. Adria has incredibly low FB stats (she uses it sparingly), but apparently that still gives her a tremendous boost. Adding a FB account is far too easy a way to game your score higher. I understand that Klout wants to incentivize the attachment of FB accounts and keep growing virally, but this aspect of the Klout score seems broken.

In practical terms, I have three action points I preach to anyone who will listen. Really, only two and a half.

The half step is extremely important, but I count it only as a half because it applies specifically to users of Gmail rather than other online systems. Here it is: if you use Gmail, please use Google’s new “two-step verification” system. In practice this means that to log into your account from any place other than your own computer, you have to enter an additional code, from Google, shown on your mobile phone. On your own computer, you enter a code only once every 30 days. This is not an airtight solution, but it can thwart nearly all of the remote attacks that affect Gmail thousands of times a day. Even though the hacker in Lagos has your password, if he doesn’t have your cell phone, he can’t get in.

In case you’ve missed the point: if you use Gmail, use this system. Also, make sure the recovery information for your account—a backup e-mail address or cell phone where you can receive password-reset information—is current. Google uses these to verify that you are the real owner.
